He who believes that the material is the basis of life does not need faith. He will not be able to accept the primacy of the soul in life. Every person defines for himself what is primary and what is secondary in him. Where is the priority in life? Is it working on oneself to improve one’s inner life, one’s thoughts and feelings and behaviors? Is it the search for the soul and the origin of life, the creator from which everything came into being? Or do the inner circumstances and values seem to be without much importance for a good life and only the visible material counts. But what is the use of knowing and having a lot, if you have not understood all your life who you really are?
Life takes place to a large extent between mind and soul. Who takes the lead in life, which voice is listened to and who is believed? The ability to hear one’s own soul is more or less given to people. To those who hear it, it sometimes seems as if a voice within them is saying: this is exactly what you have to do. But this voice is very quiet. Life is a chain of endless choices. This choice is an expression of man’s freedom to believe and do what he thinks is right, and this shapes his life. By the consequences of one’s choices, one can often tell what influence one has followed.
